Climate change and me

Having just started the Exeter University MOOC on Climate Change, I've decided to revive my long-abandoned blog, all posts of the original now having been deleted (by me, I hasten to add) - I start anew with a 'clean slate'.

Online learning is a fairly new phenomenon, and the advent of the MOOC - Massive Open Online Course - is a way of making it easier (and cheaper - it's free!) to dip one's toe into the world of education, to join a worldwide community of people with interests in the same topic and to explore not only the subject itself but many of the new interactive tools that exist out there for background and extra research and to  share the insights I or others may have on it.  It also enables the Universities to try out new methods of delivering content, discussing with their students, assessing results etc, with a big pool of willing guinea-pigs.  And it's fun, too.

So, on that basis, I'm happy to be a guinea pig and would like to thank Professor Tim Lenton and his team at the University of Exeter for giving me this opportunity.

I dedicate this blog to the memory of my friend and blogger extraordinaire, the late Dr Elizabeth McClung of Victoria, Canada.
